The Offerings of February

Curtains have been drawn on January. February peeks. The shortest month of the year. In Roman era, the month was Februarius that comes from a Latin word standing for purification. Purification. The act of getting rid of impurities. And on that happy note, we dig deeper into what Hollywood has to offer in February.

This month is again usually a cold one showcasing mainly pushed back movies and ageing franchises. Getting a $100 million grossing movie is rare. Probably the time of the year when you take a little break from movies and check on your pets or go ahead with hobbies that you always wanted to pursue. But if you still a nutcase like me and would seek a theatre rather than a dip in the pool then read further on. Even I got just one movie from February as part of my 'watchlist', though there are a couple from the previous month that still require my attention. But as for February, these five movies that you could possibly consider casting your eyeballs on.

5) Bullet to the Head: This one got Sylvester Stallone and action, which is a combination most are familiar with. An ageing Stallone has actually not done bad at all in the recent past, but this one seems to be probably a straight forward action flick with nothing to get you really gung-ho about.

4) Identity Thief: When Melissa McCarthy became memorable as Megan in Bridesmaids, it really would come as no surprise to see her being cast in similar roles for the next few movies. And she seems to be in that kind of a role in Identity Thief. A comedy with Jason Bateman also helping you get a few laughs.

3) Beautiful Creatures: This one is a fantasy based movie (witches, good, evil, etc etc) based on a book series which generally is good enough to create lot of buzz and start a franchise. But a February release with hardly any star-power, makes Beautiful Creatures a slightly tricky proposition to watch.

2) Warm Bodies: It got great reviews initially, it had an interesting trailer, and it has a good concept to work with. About a zombie falling in love with a girl very much alive. How much it is able to pull off, is to be seen. But the initial buzz could get the first crowds in.

1) A Good Day to Die Hard: This one is purely out of nostalgia. I am definitely walking in the theatre with my head held high to watch the next of the Die Hard series. I even liked the fourth edition. And even though the plots have started making less sense, this is the one role that Bruce Willis seems most comfortable at. The trailer of this movie has piqued my interest further and with a lot of action and one-liners, A Good Day to Die Hard might find it hard to disappoint.  C'mon Brucieeeee! The trailer below...
